Description
Our client is a solid, well-established independent broker-dealer with over 300 registered representatives nationwide. We have been retained by this firm to source and recruit talented professionals for the position of Vice President Operations.
Position Overview: Reporting to the President and CEO, the Vice President Operations will direct, supervise and maintain all aspects of First Clearing and Pershing brokerage operations and supervise the non-brokerage transaction processing area, as well as assist the President in various other company initiatives. Solid knowledge and experience with Pershing and or First Clearing is critical. The position will be based in Southeast Florida and will require relocation for individuals living outside that area.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Oversee the accurate and timely processing of opening new accounts, brokerage account transfers, account closings, margin activities, cashiering activities, IRA distributions and various account- maintenance functions. Review suitability and compliance with FINRA and SEC Rules and industry best practices. Ensure that the daily administrative duties for all staff in the department are performed and completed on a daily basis. Manage workflow and staff to service standards. Back up all functions of the departments as necessary. Report to the President on activities and status of the departments. Interface and make recommendations to senior management on upgrades or enhancements to processes, procedures and technology for the departments including departmental needs for proprietary technology development. Learn and keep informed about company and industry policies and procedures and inform senior management of any potential violations by representatives or staff. Coordinate the accurate and timely disbursement of operations information from our clearing firms and other industry sources to reps via Bulletins, Newsletters and other means of communication. Coordinate with Recruiting to ensure smooth transition of new registered representatives. Participate in the due diligence process for approving new investment products for sale by registered representatives. Assist in the rollout of any new products and services offered to firm by the clearing firms or other industry sources. Be available at the direction of senior management for other duties and responsibilities.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Manage and supervise the day-to-day activities of the operations staff by providing strong leadership, in-depth training and coaching to current team leaders and associates. Resolve any rep or staff issues that require escalation. Ensure that company and departmental policies and procedures are being followed. Set reasonable standards for accomplishing departmental tasks and goals and ensure those standards are being met. Administer performance reviews, verbal, written and termination notices. Participate in the interview process and selection of new employees. Ensure that all associates under direct or indirect supervision of this position are effectively trained.
Education/Experience: Bachelors degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university Minimum of seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent of education and experience. Series 7 and 24 licenses. Computer Skills: Pershing technology platform, First Clearing platform, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel
