Ensuring that company financial statements are in line with management’s requirements and industry standards is part of the job description of a senior staff accountant. Working under the direction of the assistant controller, the senior accountant assists in the preparation of financial statements that meet standard accounting principles as well as state and federal regulations.

Senior accountant responsibilities include reconciling account balances and bank statements, maintaining general ledger and preparing month-end close procedures. A successful senior accountant combines excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports and forecasts. 

  • Verify, allocate, post and reconcile accounts payable and receivable
  • Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results
  • Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending
  • Provide technical support and advice
  • Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures
  • Participate in financial standards setting
  • Provide input into department’s goal setting process
  • Prepare financial close deliverables according to schedule
  • Plan, assign and review staff’s work
  • Assist with external and internal audits
  • Support month-end and year-end close process
  • Suggest process improvements and assist in the implementation internal controls
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP principles
  • Liaise with our FP&A to ensure completeness of posted transactions
  • Prepares General Ledger reconciliations (Accruals, Prepaid, Deferred Revenue and Expenses, Amortization)
  • Prepares journal entries following the company’s best practices

• Has excellent critical thinking as well as analytical skills
• Exhibits strong computer skills and knowledge of relevant technology
• Demonstrates extensive knowledge of financial software programs
• Possesses exceptional organizational skills and is an effective time manager
• Displays the ability to pay close attention to detail
• Has strong knowledge of general accounting practices and financial accounting standards
  • Bilingual: English/Spanish, both oral and written
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • Minimum of three years of GL accounting experience
  • Experience with integrated ERP Accounting systems
  • SAP experience preferred
  • Experience with intercompany reconciliation and consolidation processes preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Highly detail-oriented and organized
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver while working under time pressure on multiple assignments
  • Highly effective problem solving

  • Microsoft Excel – Advanced MS Excel skills including v-lookups and pivot tables
