Project Controls Specialist

The Department of Operational Analysis and Capital Budget is seeking a Project Controls Specialist. The Specialist will be working closely with the capital budget team and be assigned to the Museum's current key building project and other support activities to coordinate overall project cost and schedule management, as well as reporting functions. The Specialist will be responsible for analyzing current and anticipated situations to proactively focus management's attention on overall risk management.
General Responsibilities include:

  • Implementing the project control system to record and maintain all budget, contracting, and commitment and expenditure activity including comparison with original budgets.
  • Tracking of multiple funding sources and commitments/costs against the individual source.
  • Tracking of contingency usage including actual and pending exposures in conjunction with the project team.
  • Developing and maintaining cash flow projections.
  • Engagement with external project consultants on invoicing, reconciliations, and compliance or paperwork requirements.
  • Issuing financial status reports as required, ensuring they are accurate and timely.
  • Supporting City-funding requisition paperwork and/or financing documentation as needed.

    This is a term position for the duration of the project.

    Required Qualifications:
    - Minimum of 5 years demonstrated Project or Capital Accounting experience.
    - Bachelor’s Degree required.
    - Must have a solid background in accounting.
    - Demonstrated ability to be detail-oriented and accurate.
    - Experience effectively handling multiple deadlines and priority changes and an ability to interact and work with others as a team.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    - Experience with Oracle, QuickBooks, and Microsoft Project are beneficial.
    - Experience with City and/or public funding is a plus. This is a term position for the duration of the project.
