Reporting to the Director, Accounting, the Manager, R&D Accounting will be primarily responsible for ensuring the proper accounting of and accrual for all research and development programs.  Leveraging prior pharmaceutical/biotech industry experience, advanced analytical skills and experience with clinical trials, the successful candidate will assume a strategic role on a dynamic Finance team working collaboratively across the Company.

Job Description: 
•    Partner with Financial Planning & Analysis to develop, automate and enhance the usability and accuracy of the Clinical Accruals model
•    Collaborate with Clinical Operations to review and understand clinical contract terms and clinical development plans to ensure these are adequately incorporated into the Clinical Accruals model
•    Responsible, in conjunction with FP&A, for the internal controls over clinical accruals including the monitoring and continuous review of significant estimates and judgements related to the timing and accuracy of our fixed and variable clinical trials costs and milestones for the Company’s extensive list of clinical programs.
•    Provide key inputs and monitoring of the clinical accruals, including active review of actuals compared to estimates and related true-ups, and the reconciliation of key clinical studies accounts as part of the close process
•    Be a key contributor to the monthly close process, satisfying PO accrual requirements, identifying clinical study modeling inputs and recording related accruals, and providing supporting variance analysis at the account and major program level
•    Support external and internal audits and inspections
•    Provides ad hoc financial analyses / data / reporting related to research and development programs 

•    BS degree Accounting
•    CPA/MBA preferred
•    5+ years of experience with clinical trial accounting and management is preferred
•    Strong knowledge of information systems (e.g. clinical trial management systems, benchmarking databases, SAP)
•    Proficient with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint
•    Advanced Excel skills (ability to link data and create complex worksheets)
•    Understanding of clinical research principles and process
•    Knowledge of clinical operations and project management processes and how interact with Finance
•    Solid understanding of GAAP and working knowledge of the challenges around clinical trials accruals and financial reporting
•    Outstanding communication skills (verbal and written)
•    Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
•    Ability to effectively collaborate effectively in a dynamic, cross-functional matrix environment
