TouchPoint Recruiting has been retained by a client in Indianapolis to assist in their search for an Accounting Manager.


The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing entire professional level accounting functions and the preparation of reports including earnings, profits/losses, cash balances, and cost accounting. Position is also accountable for all recurring accounts audits.


  1. Confirms accuracy of operating and financial reports
  2. Advises the CFO regarding matters, such as effective use of resources and methods, for preventing capital being frozen
  3. Interprets  accounts  and records  to CFO
  4. Oversees and manages staff that may consist of a mix of paraprofessional and/or clerical accounting personnel
  5. Analyzes records of present and past operations, trends and costs, estimated and realized revenues, administrative commitments,  and obligations incurred
  6. Develops, installs, and maintains budgeting systems that provide control of expenditures made to carry out activities, such as advertising and marketing, production and labor, maintenance, or project activities, which may include construction of buildings
  7. Makes recommendation for future financial plans and policies in collaboration with CFO
  8. Plans, schedules, and directs the work of the accounting area(s)
  9. Develops and implements methods and procedures for monitoring work activities, such as preparation of records of expenditures, progress reports, etc., in order to inform management of  current status or work activities
  10. Analyzes department budget to identify budget needs and/or reductions, and may allocate operating budgets funds
  11. Establishes policies and procedures to improve the efficiency of the accounting area(s)
  12. Enforces organization policy and practices with direct reports
  13. Conducts  or participates in special studies of economic conditions in particular  industries
  14. May recruit, hire, train staff, evaluate employee performance, and recommend or initiate  promotions,  transfers,  and disciplinary action
  15. Demonstrate initiative and interpersonal skills to promote and maintain successful outcomes within established deadlines with high accuracy
  16. Other duties as assigned

To perform this job successfully an individual must have the  following  education  and/or experience
  • Bachelor's degree or higher education in accounting with knowledge and experience of accounting practices
  • Minimum of eight to ten years in an accounting with progressive supervisory experience
  • Must know and understand accounting compliance and accounting practices and policies
  • Attention to detail with great organizational skills
  • Capable of performing duties with limited  supervision
  • Imperative ability to meet deadlines


The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Analytical - ensures the reports for all of the companies' accounts are accurate.  Pays very close attention to detail and cross referencing of accounts made by staff. Ensures the details provided are backed up with correct paperwork that has been thoroughly checked. Notes clearly reference where information or figures were obtained and how.  All work must be precise.  Sets analytical spreadsheets which provide checks and balances for each area of accounting
Internal and External Customer Service/ Communication -  provide prompt, attentive, and friendly customer service in-person and by phone; represents the organization  well; maintains personal accountability and ownership for providing excellent customer service. Communicates respectfully
Collaboration - collaborates with management on the strategy for the organization and carries out the vision by embracing it.  Position supports colleagues and coworkers by helping out where needed; creates and maintains positive relationships with all management and coworkers; completes work on time and with high quality
Technical - proficiency in using computers and related software


Position works in an office environment 100% of the time and is subjected to normal environmental factors as found in an office setting


Position has supervisory and accountability for the following positions: Manager, Accounts Payables, Accounting Assistants, and Bookkeeper
