Well established international nonprofit organization, serving a diverse global population, has an excellent opportunity for a self-directed accounting and finance professional with strong technical, stewardship and leadership capabilities. Reporting to the Treasurer, you will have overall responsibility for strategic, financial and organizational matters for multiple operations serving a variety of communities, both domestically and abroad.

In conjunction with the leadership team, the Director of Finance will play an important role in ensuring the Mission of the organization is carried out in an efficient and effective manner. This includes key areas such as Financial Reporting; Budget Preparation; Risk Management; Property and Facility Management; Strategic Planning; and Capital Budgeting. In addition, the Director of Finance provides significant support to the Treasure and Leadership team in oversight of the Investment Advisory Committee.

The ability to partner with leadership relative to business strategic planning, execution and control will be critical. A high degree of analytical ability will be required to provide clear and concise analysis of financial results and key financial measurements driving results, including explanations of variances between plan, prior year and forecasts. 

This position will require an individual who is a self-starter and very self-directed. This is a high visibility position and interacts with numerous individuals throughout the organization so excellent communications skills are imperative. Position requirements include:
  • BS Degree in Accounting/Finance: MBA or CPA preferred; MBA and CPA ideal.  
  • Minimum of 7 to 10 years accounting/finance experience and with at least 5 years of leadership experience in a complex organizational environment. Experience with nonprofit finance and accounting matters is highly desirable.
  • Recent direct experience with international operations is desirable. Periodic domestic and international travel will be likely.
  • Solid understanding of both financial and operating systems. Strong analytical skills needed in both finance and operations to provide guidance in management decisions.
  • Must also have advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office, including Power Point, and Excel.
  • Excellent and professional written and oral communications (working with all levels and headquarters). Strong presentation skills and ability to communicate financial information to both financial and non-financial managers, in an open, honest and respectful manner.
  • Basic understanding on international law and finance in Latin American and Asian countries.
  • A very broad spectrum of experience with various organization structures will be very helpful in this position.
