A well known non-profit, investment firm by a Silicon Valley leader seeks an Assistant Controller to be in a highly visible position. 

  This position will report to the Global Controller.  We are looking for someone to own the accounting, reporting, and compliance activities for the organization’s for-profit entity.  The primary responsibilities include driving the external audit, executing the monthly and year-end close process, providing support in the completion and review of the annual tax return, assisting with the reporting to senior management of financial results, contributing to the annual budget process and staff management.  This is an ideal position for someone who proactively seeks to become valued business partners with the customers we serve.

  • Accounting and reporting – drive monthly financial close process to generate timely and accurate consolidated financial statements / key performance indicators for distribution to management team; review grant and for-profit wire disbursements prior to execution; assist Global Controller with completion of monthly reporting requirements.
  • Audit management – execute an efficient audit completion, including preparation of all audit schedules, year-end financial statements and notes.
  • Budgeting and planning – assist Global Controller with the annual budget process and monthly distribution of Budget vs. Actual information to the senior management team.
  • Investments – Assist Global Controller with pre-investment due diligence, including analysis and recommendation of past, current, and projected financial results and models. 
  • Risk Management -  Identify and secure relevant insurance policies, including D&O and property.
  • Staff Management – Lead, mentor and develop high performance finance staff .
  • Tax compliance – provide support in the completion and review of the annual tax return including supplementary foreign filings.
  • Accounting professional with at least 10 years of increasing responsibility in finance or accounting roles; CPA a plus.
  • Exceptional technical accounting and analytical skills with significant experience in managing the monthly close of books; international consolidation a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal skills with an ability to present information effectively.
  • Exceptional quantitative and analytical skills.
  • Impeccable accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Fabulous interpersonal skills; Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues around the world.
  • Proficient with various software applications.
