The work of the Finance team at EE is integrated into all aspects of the company, and is critical to ensuring that the needs of the company, our employees and our customers are being met. The Accounting Manager will report to the Senior Director of Finance and Administration, and will be responsible for all accounting and financial reporting for Education Elements . This critical role requires developing a strong understanding of the services and software that we sell, how it is delivered, and understanding our school district customers' requirements around contracting and invoicing - lots of opportunities to dig into what we do here at EE!

We're looking for a skilled Accounting Manager who will not only keep immaculate books and produce timely reports, but who is also excited about looking for ways to make processes more efficient, make reports more user-friendly, and helping everyone at EE to be more productive and informed.



  • Financial Management
    • Maintaining the chart of accounts and financial accounting system
    • Performing the month-end close, including all reconciliations and month-end JEs
    • Processing all signed client contracts, including revenue recognition, invoicing schedule, commission, etc
    • Processing accounts payable using Bill.com system for coding, approvals and payment
    • Issuing invoices to customers and monitoring accounts receivable
    • Recording receipts and depositing funds
    • Recording journal entries as needed
    • Processing and recording payroll
    • Maintaining an orderly accounting filing system
  • Reporting
    • Creating weekly cash reports
    • Creating monthly budget-vs-actual reports for all departments
    • Creating monthly board financial reports
    • Reporting monthly/quarterly to funders
    • Maintaining federal and state tax information, and reporting to entities as required
    • Generating 1099s at year-end
    • Supporting annual financial audit
  • Systems Maintenance
    • Maintaining 401k administration
    • Maintaining stock option records
    • Maintaining commission records
    • Maintaining fixed assets register
  • Performing other duties and special projects as needed


Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience, as well as a knowledge of bookkeeping and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Bookkeeping experience and proficiency required
  • Experience with financial accounting software required - preference will be given to candidates with a working knowledge of QuickBooks Online
  • Strong Excel skills a must
  • Strong G Suite skills a must
  • Must be VERY detail oriented and thorough
  • Experience working for consulting company and/or school districts a plus
  • Experience with Bill.com and Expensify a plus
  • Notary Public a plus
