Accounting Manager

Required Experience and skills:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
  • Minimum of 5 years general ledger accounting experience in a mid to large size company
  • Minimum of 5 years accounting supervisory experience
  • Construction accounting experience is highly desirable, with experience in a multi-state environment. Knowledge of Sage 300/Timberline a plus
  • Working knowledge of leases, inventory and fixed asset accounting and procedures
  • Working knowledge of payroll accounting processing
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong analytical reasoning skills with the ability to investigate variances and issues as they arise
  • Must have the ability to work in a fast-pace, dynamic environment, solving problems with a customer service attitude and being able to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization and with external third parties
  • Must be a self-started and have the ability to multitask and meet team deadlines
  • Must be well organized and take initiative to remove obstacles to his/her team’s progress
  • Experience preparing monthly reconciliations as well as audit work papers and gathering appropriate documentation for external auditor requests
  • Must be cognizant of maintaining or implementing internal and financial controls that ensure the accurate processing of transactions, the safeguarding of assets , and the integrity of the financial records
  • Strong computer skills and thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, and Word; previous experience with accounting software systems and integration of modules or applications such as job cost
Job Responsibilities:
  • Manage and supervise assigned team members in accordance with the company’s policies and applicable law, which includes: interviewing, hiring, training, assigning and directing work of direct reports. Will appraise performance, address complaints and resolving problems.
  • Traditional general ledger accounting responsibilities and meeting month end close deadlines, including review and/or preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Responsible for the timely completion of financial statement reporting or business information analysis requests or questions, as needed
  • Complete job cost movements to ensure proper reporting for WIP accounting
  • Responsible for fixed assets, inventory and leases ensuring they are properly recorded
  • Responsible for daily cash management and loan analysis
  • Ensure financial payroll information is properly reported within the general ledger
  • Assist the Controller and CFO, as needed, with the financial integration and recording of business acquisitions as well as with the deconsolidation and reporting of sales of subsidiaries
  • Assist the Controller with identifying, assessing, developing and implementing initiatives to obtain operational efficiencies and the continued safeguarding of assets
  • Other special projects from CFO and Controller as needed
